Question
Robert,

Thanks for your time. Do You know of any shareware for optical character recognition. I translate Chinese and I just got a program that will allow me to scan documents in and then have the software translate it.
Another quick question I have an Epson scanner that I bought several years ago and really haven't used it in awhile do you think I will have to buy a new scanner in order to do this, I don't know how or if technology has progressed in the scanner world. Thanks again
Michael

Answer
Michael,
Thank you for your question.
SimpleOCR (http://www.simpleocr.com) is an OCR freeware.  Depending on the DPI (dots per inch) the Epson scanner should work fine.

I hope the above link provides you with the freeware that you need. Please feel free to contact me, again, should you have additional questions.

Expertise

I will try to answer any question on what Shareware/Freeware is availiable and where to find the required software. Additionally, I have used many of the software titles, myself, and can provide guidance on which software title would fit their needs.

Experience

Because of my years working with computers, I was asked, by a relative, to find a software program that would create a resume. The problem was that the person in need of the program was out of a work and could not afford to buy a software program. My research led me to find the free Open Office suite which contained a word processing application. I was very impressed with software which started my journey of finding, installing and testing Shareware/Freeware.
