Shareware/Freeware/Cannot uninstall program

Question
Hello Becky -

I don't know if my problem is with what is considered to be freeware, but your profile says you can help with installing and uninstalling, so I'll try.

I am using Windows 2000 Professional.

I did something I now regret and downloaded Kazaa. Now I want to uninstall it, but I cannot -- despite the fact that the program no longer works. When I go to to the Control Panel, click Add & Remove Programs, then highlight Kazaa Media Desktop 2.1.1, then click Change or Remove, the following window pops up:

RUNDLL
Error loading c:\WINNT\System32\cd_clint.dll
The specified module cannot be found

Is there any way I can uninstall KAZAA? It appears to be taking up 2.02GB -- and I would love to free up that space.

If this is not your type of expertise, could you suggest somewhere else that I might get an answer?

Thank you very much.

Helene

Answer
Hi Helene,

Thanks for writing in.  Oh, that Kazaa...it can be a PAIN!! I'm sure you already know that, though! Here is a good site that explains how to remove it:

http://www.hmc.edu/cis/doc/how-to/network/sharing/remove_kazaa.shtml

To remove the cd_clint.dll error, you will need to run ad-removal software.  There are 2 free programs that I use:

www.lavasoftusa.com  (AdAware free version)

and

www.safer-networking.org (Spybot S&D)

Download, install, update and run both of these programs, but NOT at the same time.  Before running them, shut down anything else that is running on your computer---antivirus programs, ad blockers, everything.  That "should" take care of your problems.

Let me know if it doesn't, and we'll go from there, k?

Sincerely,
Becky
