Question I have about 20 burning bushes. Most are healthy but 1 died and 2 are looking sickly. In April, we had a very late and deep snow, just as flowers were beginning to bloom. One burning bush got a few leaves, and then just died. Two others looked sickly and sparse, but started to come back with rich green colors. All started to turn red about two weeks after the snow but stopped, except for the two sickly plants. The top leaves continued to turn red, then we hit hot dry weather for a month. I have had them fertilized and sprayed for insects. This week we received 7 inches of rain in one night. Now many of the leaves on the sickly plants look wilted and as though the branches are going to die. What do I do to save my bushes?
Answer Karen,
The plants were damaged from the late snow and the accompanying cold temperatures. I would recommend having them fertilized again in the fall. Keep them well watered and healthy and they should come back fine next year.
