Shrubs/Dwarf Burning Bush

Question
We planted a Dwarf Burning Bush in June of 2007. It is located in full sun portion of our backyard, facing east.  At first there was a lot of new growth.  By mid July, the leaves were starting to droop and some turned red.  Now the leaves are a light tan and seem brittle.  Help!

Answer
Debra,

The plant is in transplant shock. You will need to water it heavily for the remainder of the season and fertilize it with a granular organic fertilizer (chemical fertilizers contain high levels of salt which can damage new roots).

Good luck,
