Shrubs/Green hydrangea flowers?

Question
I got an hydrangea plant for my birthday last month.  The flowers were blue, but after I planted it they turned green?  I think I had it in a bad spot.  I just moved it to a sunnier spot (not full all day though) and added some lime to the soil (live in New England and was told all of this area needs lime).  Do you think that will help them turn blue again?  Thank you.  Gail

Answer
Gail,

The problem that you have is the soil Ph. You will need to have the soil tested to determine the Ph now, then it wiill need to be adjusted either up or down to 5.0 to 5.5 for blue flowers or 6.0 to 6.5 for pink flowers. Your local nursery or garden center will be able to help you.

Good luck,
