Question One of my PJM Rhododendrons appears to be dying quite suddenly. The leaves have all curled up. It is still mostly green, a few yellowing leaves on the bottom. This happened almost overnight; it seemed quite healthy up till two days ago. It was planted last fall, bloomed beautifully in the spring. There is another PJM nearby which still looks fine. I fertilized all the rhodos about a week ago with Miracle Gro for Azaleas & Rhododendrons, and they all get watered regularly. I have given it extra water, but no change. What else can I do? What might be the cause? Thanks...
Answer Laura,
For a rhody to wilt this fast, I would have to suspect the problem is a disease called phytophora. This disease is very difficult to control, since it is soil bourne.I would suggest calling a tree care company to diagnose and treat the plant while there is still time to save it.
