I do not agree with the answer above totally. I find that if the boxwood is on the smaller side you can trench around the plant and lift it 1 to 2 inches after you fix the the soil underneath by amending the soil and possibly correcting your drainage problem. You can not fix the damage done but you can prevent it from spreading or getting worse although this is not always possible. There are also Fungicides on the market that can help prevent or stop root rot. If I can be of any other help I will be glad to assist.
