Shrubs - snowball bush

Expert: Edward Gulliksen - 7/31/2007

Question
I bought a snowball bush about a week ago and it was doing fine until 2 days later the leaves of the snowball dried up and became brittle and the leaves could be taken of easily. i took of of all the leaves the next day. I was wondering if it will recover and what should i do? Also when i took of the leaves there were little green bumps beside each leave, what are they?

Answer
Lionel,

It sounds like the plant went into transplant shock. Try to keep it heavily watered to stimulate new growth. Use some low nitrogen organic fertilizer to further stimulate growth.

The bumps that you see are more than likely the buds for the next flush of growth.

Good luck,
Ed Gulliksen
