Shrubs - yew

Expert: Edward Gulliksen - 8/11/2007

Question
What yew would be most similar to the "blue john yew"? I have 9 blue john's as the focal point of a fairly large garden, 2 have died and as I cannot seem to find replacements in this area it has been suggested to get another yew similar in characteristics to it

Answer
Peggy,

The only other yew that I know of with the smae color needles is Taxus baccata 'Cheshuntensis'. The only problem with this plant is that has a cloumnar growth pattern. I would recommend replacing with Taxus x media 'Dark Green'.

Good luck,
Ed Gulliksen
