Question
When cleaning out an old lake cabin of my aunts, who passed away some years ago, I found a chest of silverplate flatware.  I found out that the pattern is Sovereign, with the marking Wm Rogers Mfg. Co I S. It looks to be in good condition.  Can you give me a value for this service for 8, which includes a knives, teaspoons, soup spoons, small and large forks?  By the way, I just discovered this web site today and I love it!   You really know your stuff.  Thanks!

Answer
Hello Jan.  I just love compliments BEFORE I answer a question - thanks!

Since you already found out the pattern name, you probably also found out it was issued in 1939.  A service for 8 in excellent, unmonogrammed condition has a retail value in the $150 to $175 range.

Enjoy!

Regards,
Michelle
