I have been given a 5 piece sterling silver tea set. The company appears to be Fisher. Underneath is inscribed "Footed Duncan" in cursive. I have the coffee pot, creamer, covered sugar and another piece that looks like the sugar bowl without a top. Can you tell me the approximate age and worth? I am very impressed with your knowledge!
Answer Hello Susan.
I don't have a specific date for when the Duncan pattern was produced. I can tell you that Fisher - who is still in business - produced sterling wares from 1936 until sometime in the 1970's. The "sugar bowl without a top" is called a waste bowl, used sort of like a tabletop trashcan during the tea service and it's the place you put your spent tea leaves, lemon wedges, etc.
