Silver and Flatware - commemorative s.s. spoon

Expert: Michelle Lieberman - 5/16/2009

Question
Hi Michelle.  I know your expertise is in U.S silver however you gave someone advise about their spoon awhile ago. You linked a site ASCAS regarding an article they wrote.  Interestingly in that article were photos of a spoon by a private collector.  The spoon was a Diamond Jubilee of the reign of Queen Victoria with two portraits of a young(1837) and an aged (1897) Queen Victoria.
I have this exact spoon but I can't seem to find out what the value is.  I've hunted the internet but the only place I see that spoon is in that article.  Any ideas?
Thank you!

Answer
Hi Joy.

Souvenir spoons is the one area in which I haven't really delved.  I've sold 1000's of these spoons in my day, but would either plop a $30 or $40 price tag on them and sell them in a shop or put them up on eBay at $9.95 and let it go from there.

Since I'm assuming your spoon is from the U.K., your best bet is to contact someone there for a value.  Thank goodness for the internet, eh?  There are some very good websites I can refer you to, listed in order of my personal preference.
