Silver and Flatware - need help identifying bowl

Expert: Michelle Lieberman - 5/13/2009

Question
Hi! I have a large Dominick and Haff bowl, but I'd like to know more about it.  The bottom says 3905 10 IN 25, Sterling 2615.  Does it have a pattern?  Can you help?  Thanks!  Vicki

Answer
Hello Vicki.  Sorry for the delay in getting back with you.  I was trying to see if the pattern on your pretty bowl was one that matched a flatware pattern, but couldn't come up with anything that was similar.

Dominick & Haff used to have a dating system for their holloware, but I believe that was pretty much phased out around 1890.  So it's safe to assume your bowl dates from 1890 until 1928 when Reed & Barton bought them.

Regards,
Michelle
