Silver and Flatware - pastry forks

Expert: Michelle Lieberman - 5/29/2009

Question
I have 12 pastry forks that were purchsed from J.Wiss & Sons in Newark, NJ probably near 1830.  They are stamped with a star followed by Rogers & Bro.A.1.  The pattern is 1 flower, possibly a daffodil.  I haven't been able to find a picture or discription to name the pattern, but I'm trying to find out the value.  Thanks for any help you can give me.

Answer
Hello Ana.  I'm afraid your forks aren't going to be quite so old.  J. Wiss & Sons began in business in 1885 as a cutlery manufacturer, and didn't start retailing goods made by others until 1887.

I really need to see what the pattern looks like.  Any chance you could post a photo?  Also, do you have the box the forks came in?

Regards,
Michelle
