Question I recently found a silverware set with the following markings: Roger Bros XII TS. Is this a marking for silverplate or sterling silver? Can you tell me anything about this marking...does it identify the pattern?
Thank yopu.
Answer Hello Laura. Just about everything made under the Rogers Bros. name is silverplate (and if it were sterling, it would be marked as such). The XII indicates what grade of silverplate it is. The TS should actually be an IS which is short for International Silver, the company that ows Rogers Bros. That one mark says a lot, doesn't it?
I can't help you with the pattern name without seeing it, and feel free to post a photo here if you'd like me to do that. Sometimes the pattern name is written out on the back, but usually, and in this case, not.
