Question
I found seven small plain sliver spoons in my great grandmothers home.  The only mark on the back is "K.K.S."  To my knowledge there was no one in the family with the initials K.K.S.  Can you you please tell me if K.K.S. refers to a manufacturer or if you think this is a monogram.  Thank you.

Answer
Without seeing what it looks like, I can't really tell what the initials represent, but I am not familiar with a maker with those initials or mark.

You can tell if it's a maker's mark or a monogram based on how it was created.  A maker's mark is produced either as part of the die during the manufacture of silverware or with a punch which is hammered into the silver.  A monogram is normally engraved.
