Silver and Flatware - gorham baby spoon

Expert: Michelle Lieberman - 6/6/2009

Question
I just did some research re back of baby spoon  learned that GM CO means gorham the anchor means birmingham 1938??? what is EP?  the front of the spoon handle has 2 p's back to back qp. what do i have? thanks

Answer
Hello Teddy.  Yes, GM CO is one of the marks Gorham used for their silverplated goods.  The anchor is also one of their marks and has nothing to do with England or signifying a year of manufacture.  The EP is short for electroplated.  The QP is probably someone's monogram.

Best regards,
Michelle
