Question My set is pretty extensive with lots of extras-insured by my great aunt in 1980 for just under $14,000 wondered if I should insure it for more-that was actual cost when she bought it not sure what year.
Answer Hello Gina.
What you want to insure it for is pretty easy to figure out as it's the figure it would cost you if you were to go out and buy it yourself today. Courtship is no longer being made, so you need to get the going price for used, but like new pieces. There are a lot of companies online that sell replacement sterling, but I find that replacements.com has the most out there. Get prices for individual pieces from one of these sites and start adding it up. Once you have prices for all of your pieces then you'll have the amount you want to insure it for.
