Hi, I was wondering what you can tell me about the set of knives that I've acquired. I have 4 that are 6 5/8" from point to end. On the blade it states "HENRY SEARS & SON 12 DWT". I am interested in the age, pattern, type or use of knife and possible value. They seem to be all one piece, not a handle attached to a blade. I found no other markings. Thank you so much.
Answer Hello Sheryl.
I'm not going to be of too much help here as my area of expertise is in sterling, and these are silverplated knives.
I do have several reference books for silverplate and did look up the H. Sears patterns and I also went to replacements.com to see what they might have. I can't find this pattern. It's possible the pattern was given no name at all. Other reference material shows that H. Sears & Son was in business as silverplaters from 1865 until the 1910's.
