Silver and Flatware - silver plate/platter

Expert: Michelle Lieberman - 8/10/2009

Question
hello,
I have what seems to be a silver plate/platter thats got a pattern around the edge like leaves and grapes sort off but the markings on the back read,
Marquise
1847 Rogers bros
epns
009146
I S

the above letters I ans S are in a square. the I is in a square and the S is in its own square.
I am just looking for some sort of information about this thing. Everything I have found so far from rogers bros is silverware. I am having trouble finding anything else by that name thats not a fork or a spoon. any info you can provide would be appreciated. My husband gave this to me a little while ago. he saw it and bought it for a dime and it is a nice piece.
thank you. Erin

Answer
Hello Erin.

Silverplate really isn't my forte, but this one's easy for me.  1847 Rogers is made by International Silver (the IS on the back).  Your plate is in the Marquis pattern, made to match the flatware pattern of the same name that came out in 1933.  There's a lot of it for sale at replacements.com on this page:
