Silver and Flatware - Silver soldered covered container

Expert: Michelle Lieberman - 9/11/2009

Question
I bought this item at a yard sale this morning for $3.00. The bottom reads Reed & Barton  -  Silver Soldered  -  2332 C  -  6 oz.  -  South Shore Country Club. My question is what does Silver Soldered mean and what is the value of my item.
Thank you
Fran

Answer
Hello Fran.

Silver soldered indicates your item is silverplated and actual silver was used to solder the pieces together.  I'm sorry, I can't help you with value as my area of expertise is sterling, but I think you got a good deal for your three bucks!

Regards,
Michelle
