Question I found a beautiful spoon marked "Bigelow, Kennard & Co. 925". It is in original(leather covered?) presentation box. The box is lined and has "Bigelow, Kennard & Co. stamped inside the box on velvet. The spoon is 9 inches long. The bowl is about 3 1/2 inches long and about 2 inches at widest point. The bowl has 2 big strawberries with vines and leaves. There is a monogram on the handle. It needs polishing. From your previous answer to someone else, I understand that Bigelow, Kennard & Co. probably was not the maker. Any idea who made this wonderful spoon?
Answer Hello Jan.
It's not impossible for Bigelow, Kennard & Co. to have made your piece. It's just that the majority of silver they sold was made by someone else, so Bigelow Kennard usually ends up being the retailer and not the maker.
So let me ask you, are there any other marks on the back besides what you've described. Any symbols - no matter how odd looking - or number? If so, let me know. If not, is there any chance you could post a picture of the pattern?
