Silver and Flatware - cutlery

Expert: Michelle Lieberman - 9/3/2009

Question
Hi I have some old cutlery of my parents/grandparents.  2 teaspoon size spoons where the handle curls round and under.  One is marked 1847 Rogers Bros I S and the other just says community I think.  Also 4 large forks with the symbols of a crown then a B then a thing like the scouts 3 feather looking symbol then another crown and then EP.
Could you please tell me anything about these and if they are of any value,

Many thanks

Answer
Hello Ernest.

All of the pieces are silverplate, so their value would be minimal.  Both 1847 Rogers and Community produced strictly silverplated wares, and although I'm not familiar with the other maker, the EP on the forks is an abbreviation for electroplated.

Regards,
Michelle
