30 years ago I was given a complete set (12 forks and 12 knives) of what appears to be sterling silver flatware with mother of pearl handles.  They were old at the time and I have no idea where they came from.  There does not appear to be any manufacturer name or initials or stamp on them, nor on the wooden box.  There are engraved designs on the fork and knives that I have tried photographed but could only attach one. I could send one of the fork if you want it.   I would like to know the approximate value and how to sell them.
Thanks!

Answer
Hi, Laura.

It's difficult to tell what we have here because there are no manufacturer marks on the pieces. Often with sets like this, the only sterling component is the small metal bolster between the handle and the rest of the piece. That may or may not be the case here.

Generally, the value of sets like this is not great, especially since we don't really know what we have here. I've seen similar sets (without the design work) that sold on eBay for amounts between $50 and $200.

You might try eBay or perhaps a local dealer in nice antiques. Test polish  with a gentle silver polish to see if they clean up better.

Best wishes,

Jim
