Silver and Flatware/Butter dish

I have a 4 piece butter dish with the markings SP numbers Y540  for the base and number 796 for the cover.  The cover has an eagle on top.  There is a glass dish for the butter and a spreading knife with the letters EPNS.  The cover and base are made in Canada.  Can you give me some info and evaluation please.

Hi, Wayne.

No mark you mentioned indicates any component is made of sterling. The "EPNS" and perhaps the "SP" indicate silver plate. The "Y540" probably is a model number as is "796".

Withput knowing who the manufacturer is and what it looks like, my guess is that the set has a low value. A unique or unusual design will make it worth more. You might look at actual sales of similar items on eBay to get a better idea. Here are two examples: and .
