Hi Jim,

I have an 8 1/2" sterling serving spoon. I would like to learn the following:

1) Maker
2) Pattern
3) Date of pattern or manufacture
4) value

The spoon is in very fine condition and is marked on the handle back STERLING, PAT'D.FEB.1880 and BLACK, STARR & FROST (the retailer I would think). There is no hallmark. I'm hoping you will be able to ascertain the information I seek from the attached photos. Thanks you.

Sincerely,

Ed

Answer
Hi, Ed.

You are correct that BS&F was the retailer. However, this could have been a pattern made exclusively for them. There is a very similar pattern on the BS&F page at www.replacements.com but it just has a number, no name. Sorry I was not help.

Best wishes,

Jim
