Silver and Flatware/sterling flatware


I just came from my sister-in-law's home and we were looking through boxes of old sterling and silver plated flatware of her mom's, grandmother's and great aunt's.  One set in particular which looked pretty complete, in good condition, and in a nice storage box to itself was her great aunt's ( she passed away about five years ago at the age of 102). The inscription on the back was 1847 Rogers Bros. First Love. Seeing as this may be pretty old, and you have the name of the pattern, could you venture a guess as to its worth? Thanks for your time.


In 1898, International Silver Company took over this Rogers brand. They introduced First Love in 1937.

Unfortunately, silver plate flatware sold by an individual does not have much value. First Love is a good example of patterns that often sell for a dollar or two per piece. Here is an example of a recent sale on eBay: . There are many more examples of sales on eBay for similar amounts per piece.
