About Joanne Murphy Expertise I can answer questions about silverplate flatware: how to identify
patterns, how to estimate value, and how to do further research on your
collection. I can`t answer questions about silver tea sets, candlesticks, plates, bowls, dishes, platters,
ornaments or other silver collectibles.
Experience I have been a collector of these pieces for many years.
Question Hello Joanne,
Back in the mid-1970s, my Mom gave me a set of stainless flatware. The mark on the back states:
"WmRogersMFG.CO. Custom Stainless" Then there are letters in two boxes "I S". The pattern on these pieces is what I call modern version of vines--two vine-like designs on each side that become largest at the handle-end of the pieces. These "vines" are offset by oxidation in the areas without the designs.
I have no idea what the name of this pattern is. I am interested in searching for some replacement pieces.
Thank you for any help you can provide. ~Julie
Answer Hello, Julie. The I.S. stands for International Silver. Rogers is a division of International. However, Rogers International made hundreds of patterns so it would be difficult for me to identify this without a picture. There is no way to send a picture attachment here but you could send one to my address at : elwhite4548@yahoo.com and I could look at it there.
