Sleep Apnea - high blood pressure and cpap

Expert: Michael Rush - 10/22/2009

Question
ive been on cpap auto bipap for 4 yrs. in the morning my blood pressure is 176/96 and after work it is 150/80 im on meds.why so high in the morning.

Answer
Hi Jim,

The BiPAP should be helping to control your blood pressure so I don't know why it's so high in the mornings. My only thought could be on the time you take your meds, they can be wearing off by the am. Check with your doctor. Maybe you need an adjustment in the pressure of the machine. And be sure your mask is in good condition. Might be time for a new one. Good Luck...Mike
