I have a sleep apnea machine and I was fooling with it one night and found out that you unplug it from the back of the machine and hold down the two buttons on top and plug it back up and then you are in the area where you change your air #. Don't go no further than 15 without consulting your doctor.Hope this helps you.

"my Dr. won't prescribe an auto cpap'

FIND ANOTHER DOCTOR.  Some doctors are stuck in their ways or are so full of themselves they won't budge.  While a remote possibility, he may be milking your case for the money (not unheard of).  Or he's just incompetent.
