Question
Hey,
Can you tell me which stage of sleep is optimal for muscle recovery? I'm trying to find the correct length for my power naps.
sry it's not really a disorder but more of an habit.
Thanks!

Answer
Stages 3 and 4 are the deepest sleep for muscles to relax.  Naps should be no more than 20 minutes. These are power naps.  Power naps are not for muscle recovery , no nap is, naps are for sleep recovery.  Stage 2 is when the muscles come in which can be 60-90 minutes of sleep.  However sleeping this long for a nap is not recommended as it interferes with night time sleep, since stages 2,3,and 4 should be for nighttime sleep not for naps.  Go to sleepnet.com for more information on sleep.  feel free to email again karel
