i tried this for 6 month and still have problems. i feel tired all the time, i can just about manage to stay wake at daytime. but when night comes and can't fall asleep doesn't matter how much i try.
anything i can do.

ANSWER: You must reset your sleep clock, Do this for 6-8 weeks first. Go to bed and awaken the same time every day regardless of how much or little sleep you got the night before, this resets your sleep clock. 3 hours before bedtime stay away from pepsi, coke, caramel colored soda, caffeine, tea, coffee, alcohol, chocolate, and exercise all these make for restless sleep. When you go to bed twist and turn for no more than 20 minutes, then go into a different room and read something only, no computer, when you start to doze immediately go back into the bed, this retrains the brain into thinking that the bedroom is for good recuperative sleep only. Do this as many times as you awaken at night, it will lesson. 30 minutes before bedtime take a hot bath, the heat from the water tells the brain its time to relax and get ready for a good nights sleep. l5 minutes before bedtime drink a glass of warm milk. Milk when heated contains tryptophan a natural amino acid sleep inducer. If after you have done this for 6-8 weeks and see no improvement, you should go to a sleep center for a sleep study, Now if the insomnia improves and you are still tired during the day you could have narcolepsy, go to sleepnet.com click on disorders narcolepsy and read about its symptoms, also click on insomnia for more tips, Also if you must nap never more than 20 minutes and never after 3pm. My guess if that you are so exhausted due to your inability to sleep at night. Your local hospital can refer you to a sleep center or they list some at sleepnet.com. But first see if you can reset your sleep clock the natural way. It will be hard to stick to the regimen but it will at least tell you which way to start. Feel free to email again karel

QUESTION: hi,
Thank you for the reply.
i tried pretty much what you said for about 6 months.
what tends to happen is some days i can fall asleep after 2am waking on and off while other days takes longer to fall asleep. so a little bit improvement.
but what i noticed is i still feel tired during daytime. i can manage to stay awake but with difficulty. can this still be narcalypse, as my doctor told me you have to fall asleep to be called that. i tend to go another doctor for advice but your advice will be very helpful, what kind of things can i ask him/she.
Thank you.
Answer You need then to have a sleep study at a sleep center. Your local hospital can refer youl.Narcolepsy can range from so mild to so severe. One doesnt have to literally fall asleep all the time, but one can simply be so exhausted. Go to sleepnet.com click on disorders narcolepsy for more info. Also go to narcolepsy network.com for more info. Get another opinion,if you go to a sleep center they are better equipped to diagnose you as many of todays doctors unfortunately think one needs to literally fall asleep to have a sleep disorder when this isnt so. feel free to email again karel
