Question
Hey Karel, I am not sure if I am writing the right person but it is worth a shot. I am a college student that is a pretty busy all the time. Growing up, I could never sleep till 8 am and that was even pretty late for me to sleep to. I don't stay up late but am noticing now that I have to have an alarm clock to even wake up by 12 noon. I am not sure what I can do to feel more rested but I feel so worn out all the time after sleeping 11-14 hours. And no rested enough from 6-10 hours. Please help
Leanna

Answer
You could be suffering from narcolepsy, which is the uncontrollable urge to fall asleep at inappropriate times, but also can be mild which its symptoms is that one is tired all the time.  You might need to go to a sleep center to have your sleep evaluated. Your local hospital can refer you. Go to sleepnet.com  click on disorders narcolepsy, you need not have all the symptoms, then go to narcolepsy network.org.  and lastly but importantly.  Y.A.W.N.  young americans with narcolepsy. feel free to email again karel
