This is the most far off answer I have seen.  You aren't really looking at her symptoms.  She is most likely having a panic attack.  I get panic attacks in the first hour of me falling asleep.  I wake up screaming and scared.  It's caused by stress and anxiety throughout the day.  I have an anxiety disorder, so that explains it.
