Sleep Disorders/RLS and glutamates
I'm having a good deal of trouble sleeping and have reason to believe I have RLS. On reading some of the literature on this condition, two things stand out: high levels of glutamate in the brains of RLS sufferers, and anemia.
1. Is it a scientifically supportable idea that glutamate in diet can contribute to insomnia? Can dietary glutamate pass the blood-brain barrier?
2. If so, is there a list from some reliable source (ie, not some celebrity nutritionist or for-profit company) that lists what foods should be avoided, and how assiduously?
Thanks for your help.
While I have no information on that I suggest you go to national association of sleep disorders and call them. Meanwhile if you have rls , there are meds to help it. Requip is one . You should visit a sleep center or your md. Here are a few foods to avoid for insomnia though and I would think that it also may help the rls. but if it is so bad you need to be on medication.
TRY THESE TIPS RELIGIOUSLY FOR AT LEAST 4-6 WEEKS BUT MANY HAVE SEEN
