AboutSam Expertise I can answer questions about the country`s history, culture, politics, economy, geography. I speak fluent Slovak. If you are planning a visit, I can recommend the places to see - especially the nature in Slovakia is worth it.
Experience I am a Slovak which makes me an expert in the language and culture. I am also a traveller so I know Slovakia quite well. I will do anything to find out the answer to your question.
I am going to my friends wedding in Slovakia on Friday. I would like to write something in Slovak in the card. Is there anything typical that is used in Slovakia? If not would you be able to translate 'Congratulations to you both on your Wedding day!' for me? (it is from two of us if that makes any difference to the translation).
Thanks,
Charlotte
Answer Hi Charlotte,
the typical simple congratulation sentence would be
Všetko dobré do vášho spoločného života vám prajú Charlotte & [whoever]
In case you cannot read the Slovak characters, you can just write
Vsetko dobre do vasho spolocneho zivota vam praju Charlotte & [whoever]
This loosely translates to "All the best to your life together wish Charlotte & ...". I guess it sounds unnatural in English, but that's the way we put it in Slovak :-)
Other than that, you could include just about anything else - a poem, a Bible verse, a personal wish... If you come up with something, feel free to contact me, I can help you translate it.
