Question
HI-
I will driving from Budapest to Kosice and was wondering if there is a certain border crossing you need to go thru to get into Slovakia or do all major roads have a customs/border checkpoint? Also, will be going into Poland near Krakow, probably near Oravska Polhora and wondering the same thing? thanks in advance

Answer
Hello Mark,

you are right, there are border checkpoints on all the major crossings. You would have to try hard to find one without it (and even so you would run into signs and perhaps a crossbar to prevent you from driving through).

The borders open in January 2008 as part of the Schengen scheme.

Have fun travelling around! And don't hesitate to contact me if I help you with anything else.

Sam
