Question
In 2002 I purchased K-mart stock then the filed bankrupcy but then proceeded to obtain sears. are my stocks worthless or how can they  do this.

Answer
Best way to take care of this is to walk the certificates into a local broker dealer. You should keep all stock certificates with a local broker dealer. They automatically check and confirm stock splits and other matters. They do this for free and can spent the manpower to make sure that everything is checked out.
