Question
John,

You gave an excellent response to Rick and his blown B&S  engine, it applies to me also.See;  http://en.allexperts.com/q/Small-Engines-Lawn-1746/B-S-motor-1.htm
My question is about the 31Q777-0036 ($850.) replacing the 31P777-0296. I have found I can purchase a 31P777-0602 for about $450 and it lists the 31Q777-0036 as it's replacement also.
The bottom line is; can I purchase a 31P777-0602 and swap out the stuff that makes it into a 31P777-0296?

Respectfully, and thanks in advance,
Bob.

Answer
Hello Bob:

From the Information I have Seen and Read, I See No Reason for the 31P777-0602 to Replace the 31P777-0296. Have you Looked Into the Short Block Option? You can Reference Both Engines at this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select the Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM and Enter the Model Numbers. Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Now you can Select the Section of the Engine you Wish to View. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck

Respectfully

John
