Question QUESTION: I replaced the pto switch and I still can't get it to engage the blades. I also replaced the battery and I can't get it to start with the key. i can take a wire and go from battery to starter and it will start. I going to clean all terminals on the key switch today. Help.
ANSWER: sounds like a bad solenoid! Try replacing it and it should start with the key again!

QUESTION: Even that it starts with a jumpper wire you think it could be a solenoid? Where is it located on the tractor? iS THE PTO TIED IN WITH THE KEY SWITCH ALSO?
Answer the solenoid is somewhere between the positive battery terminal and the starter! That is what gives it power to the starter when the key is turned.Check to see if maybe the ignition wire came of the solenoid? Like I said it is what the positive battery terminal connects to and then from there it would hook to your starter! Give it a try
