Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.) - Honda Mower Problem

Expert: John C. Bridgers Sr. - 6/30/2007

Question
QUESTION: I have a self propelled Honda lawnmower that I love but lately it has become a push mower rather than self propelled.  The rear wheels rotate when I lift them off the ground but they provide little or no traction.  What might the problem be?

ANSWER: Hello Bruce:

The Answer Depends on the Model of the Mower. Some of these Transmissions have a Woodruff Key that Holds the Ring Gear to the Drive Axle and Others have Raised Ears that Lock the Ring Gear to the Drive Axle. The Drive Belt May Need Replacing. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Mower, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

QUESTION: Thanks John

The Model number of the Honda is HRR 216 S3DA - A Harmony HRR 216.  Hope this helps you to narrow down the problem.

Bruce
ANSWER: Hello Bruce:

No Worries. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower at this Site Addy, http://hayward.arinet.com/scripts/EmpartISAPI.dll?MF&app=ASP&lang=EN&TF=Mainfram... and Select the Catalog American Honda. Then Select the Lawn Mower File. Now Scroll Down to your Model and Click on it. Now you can View the Sections of the Mower you Wish to View. This Breakdown/IPL Does Not Include the Transmission Breakdown/IPL. If the Wheel Drive Assemblies are in Good Shape, then Locate the OEM Plate on the Transmission and Send me the Information Off This Plate. With this Information I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.
