Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.) - carburator

Expert: Michael - 7/15/2005

Question
I have a 25h kohler command and   when you ajust the air mixter on the carburator all the way in and back it out 1 5/8 then screw it in tell it start's to idel down it don't idel down.even if you screw it all the way in the sound of the motor dosn't change. Itook the carburator apart and cleaned every hole in it. but it still did no good.

Answer
Hi Robin,

I'm not sure which screw you are turning.
The small low speed mixture screw should intially be set 3/4 turn out.  Set the idle with the idle speed screw.  It limits or stops the carb's throttle butterfly plate from closing.

Let me know how you make out.
Michael
