Question I WAS JUST GIVEN A HOMELITE CHAINSAW MODEL XL 101 IT WAS SITTING ON A BOAT FOR 8 YEARS NOT WORKING. FOR FUN & I NEED A SAW EVERY NOW & THEN, I TOOK APART & CLEANED PARTS, BUT COULD NOT USE GAGES TO GET THE GAP FOR MAGNETO, POINTS OR SPARKPLUG. TOO MUCH OXIDATION. ANY SUGGESTION WHAT TO TRYK AS SETTINGS? LOCAL SHOPS SAY THEY DON'T HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON OLD HOMMELITE SAWS. THANKS FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE.
Answer Hello Robert:
The Coil/Magneto is Set at .020in. the Point Set is Set at .020in. and the Spark Plug is Gapped .035in. Some Saws were Set at .012in, but try the .020in first. Not many were set to .012in. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. I enjoy knowing the Outcome. Thanks.
