Answer Hiya Bruce
couple possibilities here-
both involve your mixture leaning out-
1- check you carb for looseness, or evidence of a bad gasket
2- try to richen the idle mixture by opening the screw 1/4 turn
3- get the engine nice and warm...2-5 min. From the upright position at idle, turn the saw on its side... if the RPM's go up you have bad crankshaft seals. The saw is allowing air to flow directly into the crankcase effectively causing a "lean-out" and will ultimately cause piston/cyl damage.
