Question tecumseh 6.5 horse motor, please explain how the charging system works. On a dvom with an automatic selector for ac and dc voltage should i have 13.5 to 15 ac volts for the charging side of the magneto. And is this caused by the magnet passing the coil once per revolution. thanks. pete
Answer Hello Pete:
Are you Working with the Magneto (Outside the Flywheel) or the Stator(Under the Flywheel)? The Magneto and the Stator will Show 0.0VDC when the Engine Isn't Running. The Stator can Only be Checked when the Engine is Running. The Voltage at the Battery Terminals should be 12.8 to 13.5VDC when the Engine is at Full Throttle. Send me the Model Numbers, Please. With these, I can Locate a Breakdown/IPL and Better Assist you. Thanks.
