Experience I have worked as a lead tech in high volume OPE dealerships for 25 years. I am currently the service manger at a high volume John Deere dealership. I started at 20 at a Gravely Tractor dealership. I took a 5 year break from power equipment and worked at a large Honda motorcycle dealership. After brief stops at a Toro Golf and Turf distributor and a small "mom and pop" shop I landed at Reynolds Lawn and Leisure where I have worked for 15 years. I have taught "Small Engine Care and Repair" in the local school district's continuing education program for several years. I also appear as a guest speaker at many local vocational schools.

Question My battery drains after engaging blades for awhile and the red charging light stays on. I have a troy-built tractor with a B&S 22 hp model 407777 type 274729 engine. Please help. Thanks,
John
Answer Bummer John, Troy-bilt makes the absolute crappiest tractors on the planet!!!! I currently have 17 in my shop for warranty work, that's 20% of my total pending work orders. You got what you paid for!
Test the charging system by using a volt meter between the battery terminals. You should have almost 13.5 volts DC.
Let me know what your readings are we'll go from there.
If you don't have a volt meter all I can do is guess.
I guess stator!
