Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.)/oil change

A better way is to use the drain plug on the bottom of the engine. Disconnect the spark plug to prevent accidental starting, then tip the mower on its side. Use a ratchet and an extension (no socket needed) to remove the drain plug. Set the mower back down over a drain pan to collect the oil.

I have worked as a lead tech in high volume OPE dealerships for 25 years. I am currently the service manger at a high volume John Deere dealership. I started at 20 at a Gravely Tractor dealership. I took a 5 year break from power equipment and worked at a large Honda motorcycle dealership. After brief stops at a Toro Golf and Turf distributor and a small "mom and pop" shop I landed at Reynolds Lawn and Leisure where I have worked for 15 years. I have taught "Small Engine Care and Repair" in the local school district's continuing education program for several years. I also appear as a guest speaker at many local vocational schools.
