You'll find a dot on the cam gear and two lines on the crank gear. The dot on the cam as it rotates should be between the two lines of the crank gear (the two gears interact with each other the crank spins the cam. The plastic gear you refer to is spun by the cam and not only rotates and flips oil onto moving parts but is also tied into the governing system......You must reset gov. when evr you upset these parts.
