I started at 20 at a Gravely Tractor dealership. I took a 5 year break from power equipment and worked at a large Honda motorcycle dealership. After brief stops at a Toro Golf and Turf distributor and a small "mom and pop" shop I landed at Reynolds Lawn and Leisure where I have worked for 15 years. I have taught "Small Engine Care and Repair" in the local school district's continuing education program for several years. I also appear as a guest speaker at many local vocational schools.

Question QUESTION: I have what I believe to be a B&S model 252707 11HP engine(it came off of a craftsman lawn tractor, and I only have the engine. I suspect B&S as the starter has their name on it, but there are no model numbers on the block or head - I only have seen pictures to compare it to).
anyway, I am planning on rebuilding this engine, but I can't get the flywheel and the output shaft removed(the assembly with two pulleys on it to drive the blades and transmission).
Thanks,
Erik
ANSWER: The "Hounds of Hell" might not get the pulley off. Cutting torch or hacksaw will do the trick. Buy a flywheel puller at your Briggs dealer, 11.00.
My question is why on Earth would you want to rebuild ,this, engine? It was a throwaway when new. Are you just bored?

QUESTION: To answer your question - Yes. I needed a hobby, and my inlaws were tossing their lawn tractor, so I took the engine to mess around with. It looks like I'll need to purchase a torch and a puller then, unless there is some other way to remove the flywheel(prybars and hammers maybe??)
Thanks for the reply,
Erik
Answer If you are lucky you can turn the engine over. Soak the pulley with penetrating oil, Not wd40, real penetrating oil. Put the bolt back in the crank. Hold the engine of the bench and hold on to the pulley. Now have someone hit the bolt HARD with a BIG hammer. It might come off. Don't buy a torch, use a hacksaw it will take some time but it will be way cheaper.
