Question
hello, i have a b&s 5hp motor model 130202 and i got it from a friend. problem is it wont start. he never started it but i figured i would try. i reset the armature and made sure its correct. it works because if i hold the spark plug wire while touching the head, i can feel the electricity jolt through my hand while pulling the starter. only thing is , when i put the plug in place of my hand while touching it to the motors head, .. the plug wont start. its not the plug. i tried several new plugs. what could my problem be??

Answer
Hello Jereme:

Check the Point Set. There is Enough Current for you to Feel, But Not to Fire the Plug. I Suggest you Replace the Point Set. You can Either Replace with a New Point Set or a Novall Ignition Module. Stens Also Makes an Electronic Ign Module. If you Replace the Point Set, then Clean the Contacts with a Cloth Before Installing. Set the Engine so the Point Set Plunger is Extended Fully, then Gap the Point Set to .020in. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select the Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM and Enter the Model Numbers. Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Now you can Select the Section of the Engine you Wish to View. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
